Chelsea caretaker boss Roberto di Matteo admits he may persist with Danny Sturridge in a wide role.
The youngster is desperate for the chance to play at striker.
With talk of Sturridge moving inside to centre-forward, Di Matteo responded: "I have to utilise the best ability of all the players I have. Daniel is a great player and has some ability that can damage the opposition but we need to be able to focus them within the team and put them to the service of the team.
"It's a team effort and, when Inter won the Champions League they had Samuel Eto'o (a striker) playing on the right side defending like a right-back. Sometimes the spirit of sacrifice has to be put ahead of individual talent."
