Conte is expected to replace Gig del Neri at Juve over the summer.
"It's the best decision possible because the 'captain' is Juventus," former Juve and Italy winger Di Livio told Tuttosport.
"He knows what Juventus are all about and he knows the value of these colours," he continued.
Conte spent over a decade in Turin as a player and wore the armband with pride following his move from Lecce.
"Coaching Juventus was always his dream," continued Di Livio, who was part of that Marcello Lippi side who went on to win everything on offer.
"From the day that he first joined Arezzo as a Coach, his objective was to take charge of Juventus. He wanted to take back these colours because they stay inside of you forever."
