New Chievo Verona coach Mimmo di Carlo is delighted with the positive attitude he has found with his squad.
âMy job, along with the team, the club and the fans, is to take Chievo to safety,â said the man who replaced Beppe Iachini at the end of a nine-match winless streak.
âIt will be a long and hard road made of joy and pain, but what counts is being able to fight back with grit. That is something a team must never lack, especially one trying to avoid relegation.
âItâs too early to make evaluations, but the lads surprised me in a positive way. They are putting so much effort in and doing everything to give me all the available options. Aside from the result, Iâm convinced theyâll put in a great performance.â
Chievo welcome Juventus to the Bentegodi on Sunday afternoon and are without a victory since the opening weekend, while the Bianconeri are fresh from five straight wins in all competition.
âWe must try to dictate the tempo of the game, as if we let them do it, then we would only run into difficulty,â continued former Parma and Mantova boss Di Carlo.
âI am proud to have been chosen by Chievo to start this adventure. Iâd say the fans have already won their side of this match by snapping up tickets, now itâs up to us to ensure they have something to cheer.â
