Swindon boss Paolo Di Canio has sought to dispel suggestions that he has overloaded his midfield options following the signing of Alan McCormack. The Italian told the Swindon Advertiser: "We need four or five midfielders who can rotate because in a long season you can have injuries.
"We need to have physically strong players who will always challenge the opponents and McCormack is that kind of player.
"McCormack can also cover for (Oliver) Risser if he is injured, because otherwise we have only Jonathan Smith who can challenge opponents.
"I need a good mix of players who have different qualities for all situations."
