Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio is happy for his players to enjoy a full summer break. Di Canio had threatened to cut his players’ break down to the minimum of 28 days.

Di Canio had threatened to cut his players’ break down to the minimum of 28 days.

But Di Canio has softened and his squad will report back for duty no earlier than July 5 — giving them nearly seven weeks off.

Most Premier League clubs are expected to begin pre-season on July 8.
