Wellington Phoenix captain Andrew Durante knows what it takes to win the league title and holds hopes that he can experience it again.
The 27-year old was judged best afield in the 2007/08 A-League Grand Final when he was with the Newcastle Jets who defeated Central Coast Mariners and now with a new club, is looking to emulate that feat with a determined and focused bunch.
"I knew when I came here it wasn't a club just happy to make up the numbers," Durante told The Herald.
"They were determined to be successful. "We recruited really well and have had a fantastic season. And it is not over yet.
"At the beginning of the season you set yourself the goal of making the semi-finals.
"Once you are there, you set another goal of making the grand final. That's what we want."
Durante admits his experience this season with the Phoenix is similar to what happened at Newcastle with the fans getting right behind the team during the play-offs.
"We went through the same thing at the Jets. We averaged 8000 or 9000 at Newcastle during the season and the support snowballed for the ride through the finals," he added.
"We are on a good thing here. It's something special and everyone wants to be a part of it.
"They are looking at 30,000 for the next game against the Jets. The stadium only holds 35,000."
Durante and the Phoenix will be hoping the dream can continue when they meet the Jets in the minor semi-final on Sunday March 7 at Westpac Stadium.
