French pundit Pierre Menes believes France coach Didier Deschamps should persist with Manchester City fullback Benjamin Mendy.

Mendy featured in Sunday's win over Holland.

Menes reflected: "He (Lucas Hernandez) has been replaced by Mendy, who has done good and not so good.

"He missed his defensive return on the action that brought the equaliser for the Netherlands, but he fought back well with his decisive centre for (Olivier) Giroud.

"He's a completely different option than Lucas Hernandez on the left side."
