France coach Didier Deschamps has hailed the character of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.

Despite his battle to be a first-choice at Arsenal, Giroud enjoys such status under Deschamps.

The France coach declared: "Giroud? He resists everything because I trust him and I make him play.

"He has that character. He does not let go. It is his mental strength. Even with a reduced time in his club, he manages to be effective. He is one of the best French scorers.

"He may have worse periods. But he has that mental strength. He's going to look for it. It does not come by itself. He makes the effort it takes to be rewarded."
