Derry: QPR paying for summer transfer policy

QPR veteran Shaun Derry feels they're paying for the summer's transfer policy.

Mark Hughes backed the arrival of 12 players in the close season but it unsettled the squad, who take on Newcastle United second from bottom in the table.

Derry said: "At times it's hard to take because you feel you get the club into the Premier League and you want to play, be part of it.

The teams promoted in the same year as us, Swansea and Norwich, seem to have done things a lot slower than we have.

"Mark Hughes thought we should bring in a number of players to enhance our chances of progressing. It just didn't work out that way. It takes time to mould a team, it really does. My own opinion is things were done just too quickly."
