Toronto FC captain Dwayne DeRosario will report back to training in just over a week following his brief time with Celtic FC. The 32-year old attacking midfielder recently spent some time training with the Scottish giants although it has since been revealed that it was not a trial.

There was plenty of media speculation surrounding DeRosario and Celtic but news that he is set to return to Toronto for pre-season training on January 18 indicates that a loan deal was never a possibility.

"What happened is there was some confusion in regards to having the insurance in order," Toronto chief Tom Anselmi said.

"We've worked that out and expect him to be back with the club in time for training camp."
