Derby young gun Hughes not set for Liverpool move

Derby County chief executive Sam Rush insists Will Hughes will not be joining Liverpool anytime soon.

The 18-year old midfielder has been linked with a shift to Anfield with reports suggesting he may make the move in January as part of a deal which saw Reds youngster Andre Wisdom join the Rams on loan recently.

However, Rush says that the Wisdom deal has absolutely nothing to do with any other potential transfer whilst indicating that Hughes is likely to remain at Pride Park.

"I think the Andre Wisdom deal was very much as a result of Liverpool's desire for him to come to Derby and further his football education," Rush said.

"Andre was the top of Steve McClaren's list of people he wanted to bring in to strengthen the squad. So no, there is no connection with Will Hughes at all.

"There has been no further movement in terms of Will. From our point of view, we are just looking forward to watching him continue to play for Derby County."
