Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage believes manager Nigel Clough is set for bigger things.

Savage has played for some of the best managers in the English game and rates Clough in the top drawer.

The midfielder said: "In my opinion, Mark Hughes, Steve Bruce, Martin O'Neill and Nigel Clough are all of a similar mould.

"But every manager needs time. If we had £10million to spend, we would be up there. No doubt that he is the right man for this job. I've had something special with all of my managers. I've got something like that with Nigel. He is an honest guy.

"All he wants you to do, like Martin O'Neill, is do what you are good at. One thing is pretty obvious is that Martin and Nigel are two of the most intelligent managers. Look, we have Countdown on the coach and the gaffer gets nine-letter words all the time. I struggle with sad, hair and blond."
