Derby veteran Savage blasts Birmingham's Johnson over champagne taunts

Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage has taken a pop at Birmingham City defender Roger Johnson after Saturday's FA Cup defeat.

Savage was stunned when the Birmingham centre-half made a beeline for him at the final whistle.

Savage snapped: "I'm disappointed in Roger Johnson. When we were coming off the pitch, he shouted over 'I'll be drinking the champagne tonight, Sav'.

"Well, he can swig his Moet. But he should know I've been drinking Dom Perignon for the past 12 years in the Premier League.

"Actually, I've not been drinking champagne for the past 12 years, which is why I played in the Premier League for that long and I'm still playing at 35.

"He has played but a handful of games in the Premier League and he's saying that. I'm a wind-up merchant but I've more respect.

"I would never have gone up to someone like Roy Keane and said what Johnson said in my first season in the Premier League. He was out of order.

"He should concentrate on what's happening on the pitch. Kris Commons gave him the runaround.

"Once he has played 350 league games at the top, he can go from Moet to the vintage I drink. In fact, I'll buy him a bottle myself."
