Derby boss Billy Davies wants to spend £2million of his £10million summer budget on West Ham's Matt Etherington, who is also wanted by Wigan.

Etherington is Davies' number one target and would jump at the chance of a move to the East Midlands after falling firmly out of favour since Alan Curbishley arrived at Upton Park.

The 25-year-old was a firm fixture in former boss Alan Pardew's team but does not figure in Curbishley's plans following last season's capture of Luis Boa Morte from Fulham.
