Derby County have beaten a raft of Premiership clubs to land Southend United youngster Mehdi Abalimba.

The 17-year-old Congolese has been training with the Rams and also had trials at Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United while he was with Southend.

Abalimba is expected to feature in Derby`s reserve team this season as part of the club`s development squad.
