Hunt yesterday fired a parting shot at Megson after starting a month's loan spell with Derby.
The defender, 26, said: "He had ways and means of doing things but he never kept me in the loop about anything.
"There were four or five of us who were never involved in team matters and it was a very difficult thing for me personally because I just wanted to be playing. I never really got an explanation from him.
"He obviously had his reasons and, although I trained hard every day, once a manager doesn't fancy you, it's very hard to get back into his plans.
"There's not a lot you can do. You can be frozen out for as long as he's the manager and I was. It's taken him getting the sack for me to be noticed again. I think I got forgotten about by a lot of managers and clubs because they wondered what had gone on at Bolton.
"But the truth is there wasn't a problem with me individually, he just didn't fancy me as a player. That was his choice and he made it."
