Derby keeper coach Steele full of praise for Stoke's Butland

Derby County goalkeeping coach Eric Steele is full of praise for Stoke City keeper Jack Butland.

Butland's loan spell at the Championship promotion-chasers has come to an end now that Lee Grant has recovered from injury.

Steele said: "First and foremost, the fact Jack wanted to come to us was, again, a big addition for us in terms of saying that we can attract someone of his stature to be part of what we are doing.

"He's had other loans, which I have spoken to him about, but they have been totally different.

"This is a different form of pressure, but he jumped at the chance because he knew the way we play and we had a good relationship with (Stoke's keeper coach) Andy Quy.

"I had always monitored and looked for someone who would be ready to step in should anything happen to the first team goalkeeper, you have to be ready.

"The fact that he was so close was vital to us. He needed to come here and play for us and we needed what he gave us.

"He gave us great stability and we knew what we was getting. He is confident and he is going to be a great goalkeeper, you can see that, he has got everything going for him in terms of his build and stature."
