Derby County boss Paul Jewell hopes to wrap up the signing of Rangers goalkeeper Roy Carroll this week.

Jewell wanted to rush through a deal but Ibrox chief Walter Smith stalled after failing to sign Steve Banks from Hearts - who has a hamstring injury - to replace Carroll. However, Jewell believes the problem will be solved over the weekend and Carroll will join County.
