Derby eager to swiftly replace McClaren

Derby County are determined to make a quick managerial appointment according to chief executive Sam Rush.

The Rams sacked Steve McClaren on Monday after a disappointing finish to the Championship campaign and are now on the hunt for his replacement.

"We have been working with Steve in the past few days regarding his departure," Rush told the club's official website.

"We will work very quickly to draw up a shortlist, which is one I don't expect to be particularly long. We have already had contact from a number of individuals that believe they can take Derby County forward.

"We will whittle the shortlist down as quickly as we can but it is important to say that we will not be rushed into a decision."

Real Madrid assistant Paul Clement has emerged as the frontrunner to take the reins at iPro Stadium.
