Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage will not come to MLS this season after rejecting an offer from expansion franchise Vancouver Whitecaps.

The 36-year old former Wales international held discussions with the Whitecaps earlier this month but has had to turn down the opportunity to play in North America's top flight because the move to Canada was too big for he and his family.

"I'm going to stay here," Savage posted on Twitter. "Canada was a great option but it was too big a move for my family."

Savage is expected to leave Derby when his current deal runs out at the end of the season.
