Derby chairman sets Davies record straight

Derby County chairman Peter Gadsby has denied all reports of a bust-up with manager Billy Davies.

In an open letter to club supporters in The Rams' programme for Monday's home game against Newcastle, Gadsby denied fresh claims that Davies's future at the club is far from certain.

Gadsby wrote: "I am sure, like me, you despair at some of the rubbish you read these days. So, contrary to spurious reports in a national tabloid, I am happy to reiterate what Billy Davies has said and what Billy's agent has said, there has been no bust-up between the manager and the board.

"Let me make one thing transparently clear. Billy and I have worked together now for the past 15 months and it has been a magnificent journey. We have an excellent working relationship that is based on trust."
