Derby boss Jewell warns Barnes: Don't turn out like Tomlinson

Derby County boss Paul Jewell has told Giles Barnes about Graeme Tomlinson's failed move to Manchester United as an example of how leaving a club too soon can wreck a career.

"I have seen players go for the money and get lost. There was a kid at Bradford called Graeme Tomlinson, who was 17 when he went to Man United," said Jewell.

"I asked him why he was going there. I knew why - it's Manchester United and the trimmings and all that goes with it, but he was never sighted."
