Derby County boss Paul Jewell wants to bring defender Lewin Nyatanga back from his loan at Barnsley.

The 19-year-old defender is one of five players currently out on loan but Jewell is planning to bring them back to boost numbers in his squad. He also wants to run a check on the five.

"We will be bringing Lewin back and I want to give every player the opportunity to show me they are good enough to be here," said Jewell. "Things can change very quickly in football but I would like them all back to have a good look at them.

"We are short of players at the moment and if the five out on loan were here they would have a chance of being in the squad to face Newcastle tomorrow."
