Derby County boss Paul Jewell launched an amazing tirade against his players during Sunday's defeat by Reading, it has been revealed.

The Daily Mail says Jewell told his stunned players he would be in his office until Thursday and, if they wanted to leave, they were free to do so. He had already flown off the handle at half-time.

Jewell asked Robbie Savage to check if the showers in the changing rooms were hot and, when the £35,000-a-week midfielder inquired why he was being asked, the Derby manager told him it was "because you're about to go in them".

The Rams boss flew into another rage after Sunday's embarrassing defeat and told players they could "send their agents or representatives in" to see him or "failing that, bring yourself".

He continued his remarkable dressing down by adding: "Some of you are so bad that I doubt you even have agents."
