Derby County boss Billy Davies hopes to add more signings to his squad before the weekend's Premiership kickoff.

He has spent around £9m on seven signings during the summer.

"I'm hopeful of bringing one or two in shortly - that's the plan," said Davies. "We have got irons in the fire, there have been irons in the fire for several weeks, and our fingers are crossed.

"We are hoping we can do some business this week but the searching will go on right to the end of August."

Davies is keen to bring in strikers, a wide left player and possibly another central midfielder before the transfer window closes on August 31.
