Derby County boss Billy Davies is thrilled with the form of Scottish pair Stephen Pearson and Kenny Miller.
"We have to have that right through the side to stay in this league.
"We have to battle and scrap for every loose ball and every inch of grass. We have to show people we want to be in this league."
Pearson, an ever-present in the league this season, has earned rave reviews in the last three against Newcastle United, Arsenal and Bolton.
"He's a bit special at the moment, a shining light," said Davies.
"Stephen's performances have been first class. He is full of energy and pace and he is a fantastic player.
"He has all the attributes of a modern-day midfielder - athleticism, energy, determination - and he can get on the end of things. He is playing out of his skin right now."
