Derby County boss Billy Davies knows his current squad isn't good enough to compete in the Premiership.

"We know the Championship side we built last season has to be added to and the quality must rise a number of notches to compete at this level," he said.

"We have to put last season behind us. This is a different challenge and the competition is enormous - look at what clubs are spending.

"Watford found out last season how difficult it can be if you are not spending the right type of money on the right type of player.

"So we will continue to try to do that and add to the squad."
