Derby County boss Nigel Clough is keen on West Bromwich Albion striker Chris Wood.
Wood is likely to play a part in his side's Carling Cup game at home to Manchester City on Wednesday, but Rams boss Clough admitted he may know a little more about the striker's availability after that match.
"There is a round of League Cup games this week and a few fringe players might play so we are waiting until after Wednesday to follow up a few calls," Clough told the Derby Evening Telegraph.
"We will continue the search and keep asking the questions.
"But we need the players back who are already in the squad, that is the other thing."
