Deportivo La Coruna have snapped up Sunderland defender Modibo Diakite.

Diakite was released from his contract at Sunderland on Monday.

The 27 year-old is due to have his medical today and sign a one-season deal with Depor.

Diakite spent last season on-loan with Fiorentina and has also played for Pescara and Lazio.

The defender's arrival is a personal request of Depor coach Victor Fernandez.
