Departing Marrone produces another solid Adelaide performance

Departing Adelaide United player Michael Marrone again produced a solid performance for the club on the weekend.

The 22-year old defender/midfielder, who is set to leave the club for North Queensland Fury at the end of the season, was one of the Reds best in the 1-1 draw with Wellington Phoenix on Friday night - his performance delighting coach Aurelio Vidmar.

"I thought he (Marrone) was outstanding," Vidmar said. "We thought we'd put him on as a holding midfielder, more or less to man-mark.

"He did that but he did some amazing things going forward and he was unlucky not to score in the first half."

Marrone's form must leave some Adelaide supporters scratching their heads as to why the club is letting him go but a better deal was offered to him by the Fury and he sought the chance to take it and try to resurrect his career in Townsville.
