Departing Liverpool chief Rick Parry is set to remain in sport.
The Daily Mail says Parry, the outgoing chief executive of Liverpool FC, is to head a new unit aimed at cracking down on illegal betting in sport.
Parry has been appointed by Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe to chair an expert panel who will look at toughening up rules and looking at the scale of the problem.
Parry said: "Integrity and sport must go hand-in-hand, and anything which threatens that bond of trust has to be stamped out.
"The panel have a wealth of experience and knowledge. I'm confident we can build on the work already done to ensure we have the toughest possible approach to corruption - protecting and preserving the reputation of sport."
