Departing Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro is excited about his move to Al-Ahli.
The Italy captain is heading into the World Cup, but until today was out of contract, as Juventus have not renewed his deal.
Instead it was officially announced he has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Al-Ahli.
"I am very happy to have reached an agreement with Al-Ahli," he told the official club website.
"I had thought for some time about moving to Dubai, as it's a city I love, so coming to live here is a dream come true.
"I will be in Dubai playing with a big club in this city."
It was a surprise, as yesterday there were reports of interest from AC Milan and Parma, plus several MLS clubs in America.
"Fabio had offers from America and Italy, but he made a lifestyle choice," confirmed agent Andrea D'Amico.
"It will be an experience at a high level for Cannavaro, as Al-Ahli want to create a strong team.
"They are looking for an important Coach with talk of Harry Redknapp potentially on the bench. Cannavaro will also be the football ambassador for Dubai."
