Chicago Fire head coach Frank Yallop says the mooted return of winger Marco Pappa to Toyota Park is highly unlikely.
The 26-year old Guatemala international has departed Heerenveen after 18 months with the Dutch club and is expected to make a MLS comeback this season.
The Fire were keen on bringing Pappa back to Chicago but a MLS allocation has Seattle Sounders placed above them in the queue and he is likely to be too expensive for Yallop's club.
"They're asking way too much from us to get that," Yallop said.
"So we won't be doing that at this point. We tried our best to move up and (be) in the running for Marco, but it doesn't look good right now."
