Former Manchester City striker Denis Law was left disappointed with the players' effort in their Champions League defeat to CSKA Moscow.
City are facing another early exit from the competition as they are bottom of Group E after a 2-1 home defeat by CSKA Moscow .
Former City star Law, 74, said: "It was disappointing for City, they didn't play very well.
"I don't care who you are playing in Europe, the team at the top or bottom, if you don't battle you will get turned over.
"Mainly your games are 1-0 or 3-2 or 2-1, it is always a tight finish. You need to battle.
"They need that, the players will know that and they have not done as good as they should do."
