Vancouver Whitecaps have not conceded a goal in their past two matches since Jay DeMerit returned from an Achilles injury.
The 33-year old centre-back was back in action in last weekend's 0-0 draw with San Jose Earthquakes - his first outing since injuring himself on opening day in March - before getting through a full 90 minutes in Saturday's 3-0 triumph at Montreal Impact.
DeMerit will again lead the defence when the Whitecaps host Real Salt Lake this weekend and he is after a another clean sheet as the Canadian club chase a playoff spot in the West.
"Clean sheets only happen when 11 guys do their jobs defensively," he told the Vancouver Sun.
"As a back four, it's easier for us to organize the guys in front of us when we (communicate) and get in the right position to get their feet on blocks and get in the right position to head certain things away.
"It's just tightening that screw a little bit more. Organization, communication ... is what makes it a little easier to keep the ball out of the net."
