Demba Ba wants the chance to prove himself to new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The Evening Chronicle says United have been linked with a move for ex-striker Ba.

Ba, who netted 29 goals for the Magpies in just 54 appearances, would be welcomed back by some fans - despite leaving the club after activating a release clause in January.

But Ba wants to fight for his place with Chelsea and isn't thought to be keen on coming back to Tyneside.
