Delph keen to sign on at Aston Villa

Fabian Delph says he is hoping to soon sign a new contract with Aston Villa.

The 24-year old attacking midfielder is out of contract at Villa Park next summer but is keen to prove himself to manager Paul Lambert and owner Randy Lerner in order to land an extended deal.

"I feel like I went missing for a few years and that's not something I'm happy with," the former England U21 international said in a question and answer session with Villa supporters.

"The owner has been brilliant. He's always believed in me and every time I've seen him he's been nothing but positive.

"I'd love to sign a new deal and am ready to talk but it's not up to me so we'll have to see."

Delph joined Villa from Leeds United in 2009 and has since made over 100 appearances in all competitions for the west Midlands outfit.
