Delph eyeing League Cup glory with Man City to mask FA Cup disappointment

Fabian Delph has stated that he will look to get over the disappointment of losing the FA Cup Final last season with Aston Villa by aiming to claim the League Cup with Manchester City.

Delph was part of the Villa squad which lost 4-0 to Arsenal in the FA Cup final last season and the midfielder has revealed that he is still hurt by the defeat.

Now plying his trade for City, 26-year-old Delph has gone on to state that he will look to get over the disappointment of last season by helping the Citizens to Capital One Cup glory during the current campaign.

Delph told the Manchester Evening News: "That really hurt. But getting there was an achievement in itself with the squad we had. It wasn't a great squad but there was a good togetherness.

"It was a massive achievement for the club, especially with the state it was in. We stayed safe and got to the final. But that's all in the past now, I'm looking forward, with a new set of teammates who I'm really enjoying playing with.

"I'm here to win trophies and I see no reason why I'm not going to do that with the squad that we've got. It's an unbelievable squad. I got to the final with Villa, we really had to fight to get there and we felt sharp for the final. But I see it going the other way this year, I'm confident we can win something this time."
