Delio Rossi is delighted to have been offered the Sampdoria post.
Rossi has replaced Ciro Ferrara, who was fired on Monday.
"I was paired with Sampdoria yesterday and I immediately said yes," he explained at his unveiling.
"However, I want to say a few words to Ferrara. I know what it means to be unable to finish a job. I don't know him personally, but I'm close to him today."
The Italian returns to the bench after his spectacular dismissal at Fiorentina last season which followed a touchline brawl with midfielder Adem Ljajic.
"That story is over, I've already said sorry to everybody," he continued. "For me, Florence remains a beautiful memory."
