Dele Alli is pushing hard for a new contract at Tottenham.
The Daily Mail says plans are in place to improve the midfielder's existing deal, which is worth around £50,000 per week, over the coming months, but those discussions will test Tottenham's rigid pay structure with Alli set to insist on becoming the club's top earner.
Fellow England international Harry Kane is currently Spurs' best paid player with wages in the region of £100,000 per week. Alli will ask for more than that when formal discussions get underway, knowing full well he can get close to £200,000 per week elsewhere.
Tottenham's stringent wage policy has been well documented in recent seasons with many of the club's best players knowing full well they can earn much more elsewhere.
