Alessandro Del Piero won't forget last night in a hurry, especially the applause from Diego Maradona. The new Argentina manager was in the stands for the Champions League blockbuster and joined the rest of the fans as they applauded Del Piero as he was substituted late in the match.
Speaking after his two goal effort, Del Piero was thrilled with the ovation he received.
"I'm over the moon, we won, we played great and I scored goals. What more could I want?" Del Piero told RAI television.
"As players we live for such emotions, I am so pleased and grateful for the applause from the Real Madrid fans, it was incredible.
"It was special for me to score goals in front of Maradona. I hope he comes to watch us play more often!"
