Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero says they must heed the lesson learned from Friday's defeat to Villarreal.

"It was a good old thumping," smiled the captain. "We have to reflect and learn from our errors, as in these circumstances a defeat can be healthy.

"We made many mistakes in every area and faced an excellent side. However, we must not catalogue this as just a bad day, because that would be a waste of this opportunity.

"It has to be a lesson and we must learn from it, to understand where we went wrong and not do it again. It is important, as so far we have done very well."
