Juventus coach Gigi del Neri was delighted with their Europa League victory at Shamrock Rovers. Amauri bagged a brace at the Tallaght Stadium to hand Del Neri a winning start to his Juve career.

"The match did count and the victory was important," he said of the 2-0 away win.

"We are in good shape physically and will take it one step at a time. I liked the team, we need to get the right mentality and work on our movement.

"Something good was already visible tonight. Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini were a new central defensive pairing and I think they went pretty well."

Del Neri added: "Winning is important because it gives you a sense of security and confidence.

"We are working to forget last season, but having said that one must always learn from negative situations."
