Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has hit out at the Spanish press.
He is particularly wounded by the negative comments for playing David de Gea instead of Iker Casillas, finding it hurtful to doubt the most-capped player in his country's history.
Reports that the Porto stopper was told he would start and that the Manchester United keeper came in for dressing-room criticism at half-time in the Croatia game were not true.
"It's lie after lie," he sternly told Radio MARCA.
The Marquis has always tried to keep the debate over his selection out of the media but feels a line has been crossed.
"You can mess with me because I don't have anything to lose but about the team?
"It's impossible, genuinely annoying and sad."
