Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe knows manager Harry Redknapp is looking for new attacking signings.
But Defoe is ready to fight for his place.
He told the Mirror: "When you put the TV on and the club is making last-minute bids for all these strikers its only normal to think: 'Wow!'.
"But at the same time I wouldn't panic. Not one bit. Because I have scored goals since I was a child.
"I have worked hard and responded to challenges throughout my career.
"I remember being here at Spurs under Martin Jol in 2006 and Dimitar Berbatov playing alongside Robbie Keane ahead of me - a season after I'd scored 22 goals for the club.
"I went to Portsmouth, scored my goals there and ended up coming back to get my first team place back.
"So I'm up for that challenge and I look forward to coming back in pre-season and seeing that new strikers have come in."
