Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is eager for the new season to kickoff.
Speaking on his return from the World Cup, Defoe's focus had quickly turned to 2010-11, getting back into pre-season training, competing in the Champions League and facing City at the Lane on the first weekend of the season.
"It's crazy," he told the Spurs website. "I said to Ledley (King) and Crouchy (Peter Crouch) on the plane that the first game in the Premier League is really only just around the corner.
"You always look at the next game and the next important game is City on the opening weekend. We're all looking forward to it.
"I can't wait to get back for pre-season and see all the lads again. I always get that buzz. You go on holiday but I'm always ready to come back.
"To be honest, after a couple of weeks, I want to get back to playing football."
