Defoe backs Tottenham to bounce back from Man City loss

Jermain Defoe is confident Tottenham will be fine despite losing in heartbreaking circumstances to league leaders Manchester City yesterday.

Spurs copped a late penalty which was converted by Mario Balotelli to give City a 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium and although defeat was hard to take, Defoe knows that the strength of character of the squad will get things back on track swiftly.

"We were so unlucky. The lads are devastated," said Defoe.

"We really thought we were going to win the game when it was 2-2.

"It was just unfortunate. We just needed that bit of luck and it wasn't there.

"But we will keep going. We have got some big games coming up - games that we can get points from, games I think we can win. We'll be fine."
