Portsmouth striker Jermain Defoe has backed manager Harry Redknapp's push for Liverpool's Peter Crouch.

"It would be great if Crouchie came," said Defoe. "He is still under contract at Liverpool but we will see.

"I think we can go far next season but we do need a bigger squad."
