English player numbers in the Premier League will fall drastically this coming season, reports The Sun. So far, just 21 per cent of players signed by top-flight clubs this summer are English.
Last season, 40 per cent of the players in the Premier League were available to Fabio Capello.
In contrast, 77 per cent of those in La Liga are Spanish.
Only nine of the 42 players signed by Premier League clubs this summer are English.
Of those nine Englishmen, five were in the top division last year. That means an influx of just four new English signings so far, compared to 24 new foreigners.
