Former England star Alan Shearer was critical of Roy Hodgson's final selection for Euro2016.
Apart from omitting Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater from the final cut, the Three Lions also left out Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend which Shearer feels is a massive oversight given his recent form and ability to provide a point of difference.
Shearer critiqued the selections of Arsenal's Jack Wilshere and Liverpool pair Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge, who have all battled injury in recent times, and believes Townsend would have been a much better choice.
"I also feel that Andros Townsend could have offered them something different to what they have gone with," Shearer wrote in his blog for Coral.
"He's been the one shining light for Newcastle at the back end of the season, even though they were relegated.
"We have regretted taking players who weren't fully fit before, so I thought we would have learnt from previous mistakes."
